A college admissions essay or professional resume is the reason you are selected for an interview.  Before distinguishing yourself in a face-to-face speaking situation you must firstly distinguish yourself via the written word detailing your skill set, unique qualities and/or

defining story.

Stuttering, despite its all-too-real challenges to our speech, can be presented to show positive qualities and/or attributes in a college admissions essay or on a resume.  And let’s be honest: we would not be who we are if we weren’t stutterers, and as only one to two percent of the world’s population is reportedly a stutterer…you are absolutely distinctive because you’re a stutterer.

It may be difficult to believe at first (maybe not) but stuttering develops qualities such as but not limited to: strength, endurance, persistence, and empathy.  It also develops leadership because stutterers know that everyone’s voice deserves to be heard and that the content of what someone says has nothing to do with whether or not they stutter when speaking.

Like anything in life, how you present yourself within the context of being a stutterer automatically distinguishes you because chances are not many resumes will contain the subject or even the mention of stuttering.

Words Are Wings® College Admissions Essay and Professional Resume Revamp is $100 per hour and offers assistance in the following areas:

  • Positioning and citing stuttering positively to denote individuality and distinctiveness

  • How stuttering has positively contributed to who you are and what you would bring if selected to a school or for a job

  • Proofreading to ensure correct grammar, spelling

  • and wording are consistent

  • Optimizing wording so that the written words sound like you (in your own voice)

  • Optimizing order and layout of content or job history

  • Making sure any specifically asked questions by the school/employer are directly answered

  • Removing unnecessary components (as longer does not mean better)

Before your spoken words and voice can distinguish you during an interview your written words (written in your own voice) must firstly distinguish you so that you can be selected for that interview.

In the digital age of accepted word abbreviations (e.g., CU L8R, LOL, BTW, ICYMI, AFAIK, LMK,NVM, BRB, FTFY, and TL;DR are such examples) grammatically correct sentences and spelling are voluntarily being abandoned.

College admissions essays and professional resumes still require grammatically correct self-expression and representation, and Words Are Wings® College Admissions Essay and Professional Resume Revamp understands the written word is just as important as the spoken word (arguably, how someone writes is a mirror-image of how they speak…and vice-versa) and supports you as a stutterer in your quest to better your life by applying to college or a new job.

Words Are Wings® means all words whether spoken or written.
